April Holder

Hello, my name is April Holder.
I create art that is informed by my Sauk/Indigenous worldview.
I work in a multitude of materials and art forms. This includes acrylic portrait painting, altered found object sculpture, and installation.
My work is commentary on the changing world around me and what I observe and filter through the lens of my indigeneity.
My work is often directly political because my identity as a Native American person is political.
I see my work as creating a visual record of my intergenerational, political, and Indigenous philosophies.
I seek to create relatable experiences for others navigating the complexities of the post colonial world.
